In the spirit of giving flowers and in honor of Women's History month, I've created a space to celebrate you ladies! I’m excited to host the 4th Annual Women Celebrating Women virtual event. It’s my way of shining a light on glow getters. I want you to share your wins and for us to show love to the women who inspire us. The event is one uplifting celebration circle, and to date I’ve spotlighted over 60 women, who have in turned spotlighted other women. When you get women together, beautiful things really do happen. That's why I had to bring this celebration back.

The heart of my mission with the Shalyce Tyson brand is to create platforms and content for women to feel seen, motivated, connected and celebrated, as they live their lives and pursue their dreams.. Buy Black, Black Friday truly embodies that mission. What is Buy Black, Black Friday you say? It’s an epic Instagram Live showcase dedicated to black woman owned businesses, who we should support during and beyond the holidays. I started this in 2020, and it has been an honor to highlight over 60 businesses and counting, many of which I’ve purchased from or worked with in the past. Thanks to both the live and replay viewers, this event annually helps to expand the reach and sales of the participating businesses, and in turn exposes the viewers to amazing black businesses, products and services.

The 2023 Buy Black, Black Friday showcase will be held on Friday, November 24th, so save the date. Each business will be featured in 5 minute increments, which makes this a fun and fast, yet worthwhile experience for participants and those tuning in. Submissions are now open! However, space is limited, so if you are black, woman owned, service or product based business, complete the short form below.

In conjunction with the live, a digital guide will also be available for everyone to access the websites and more for all of the featured businesses. The brilliant entrepreneurs, creators and makers in the black community have so much to offer. It is my hope that the showcase and guide serves as a glimpse of that, and may we forever hold black businesses in high regard.

My guest for April is Alexandra Elle. Alex is an author and wellness consultant living in the DMV area with her husband and children. Writing came into her life by way of therapy and the exploration of healing through journaling. Alex teaches workshops and retreats centered around assisting others in finding their voices through storytelling, poetry, and narrative writing rooted in truth without shame. Her mission is to build community and self-care practices through literature & language. Alex is the author of multiple books and journals, most recently After the Rain, In Courage, Neon Soul, and Today I Affirm: A Journal That Nurtures Self-Care. She also hosts the hey, girl. podcast.

I’ve been following Alex on Instagram for years, and I’m always so inspired by the beautiful affirmations and words she pens. Thus, I’m honored to have her join us in April to discuss Self Discovery, Healing and Courage.
