Romanticizing Your Everyday Life: 10 Simple Ways for Multifaceted Millennial Moms to Elevate the Ordinary

This one is for the moms like me who might be juggling a lot—motherhood, marriage or a relationship, careers, businesses, friendships, and more. In the midst of pouring into everyone else, it’s so important to anchor in self-love and self-care. I’m here to remind you that we don’t have to wait for vacations, birthdays, or big milestones to experience joy and indulgence. We deserve this on a weekly basis, so let’s romanticize our everyday lives with simple, intentional choices that make the ordinary feel extraordinary.

Here are some simple ways to bring more romance, joy, and softness into your daily routine:

1. Plate Your Meals with Care

I love dining out, but since I don’t do that daily, I bring the restaurant vibes to my house! Here’s to making mealtime an experience! I’ve started plating my meals with intention, whether that means serving my dishes like a chef, arranging a quick charcuterie board just because, trying a new recipe, or swapping out paper plates for real ones. I even use my nice stemmed glasses for wine. You don’t have to do this every day, but at least once a week, create a moment that reminds you: you deserve.

2. Elevate Bathtime into a Spa Moment

For Christmas, my daughter gifted me a bath tray, and now my baths are a full experience. I’ll soak while sipping wine, watching a show on my iPad, or diving into a good book. I use my favorite skincare products and light candles to make my bathroom feel like a spa. It’s a way to indulge in ‘me time’ right at home.

3. Plan Easeful & Enjoyable Days Off

On your day off, carve out at least two hours for something you want to do. Whether it’s a lunch date with a friend, a solo movie outing, or a spa appointment, resist the urge to fill the entire day with errands. You deserve rest, joy, and moments that fill you up.

4. Buy Yourself a Gift—Just Because

Treat yourself outside of holidays and birthdays. It doesn’t have to be extravagant, but investing in something that brings you joy matters. Make this a monthly or bi-weekly practice. It could literally be something that’s $10. This isn’t about collecting things you don’t need, but more about treating yourself well. I recently snagged tickets for me and my daughter to see Queen B this summer, and I love that for us! Whether it’s a book, a bouquet of fresh flowers, or a new lipstick, small gestures of self-love go a long way.

5. Dress Up for Yourself

Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you have to live in sweats. A couple of days a week, put on something that makes you feel good. My Nuuly membership is my monthly treat for fashion, and I highly recommend it! You can get 30% off your first month here.

6. Curate a Morning & Nighttime Routine You Love

Your routine doesn’t have to be elaborate, but it should be intentional. Whether it’s a skincare ritual, wearing luxe pajamas, spritzing a bedtime fragrance, or sleeping on satin pillowcases, small upgrades make a big difference. I love waking up before my kids, sitting by the fireplace with my coffee, reading the Word, and easing into my day feeling in control of my time.

7. Romanticize Your Space

Your home should feel like a retreat, not just a place you pass through. Light candles with your favorite scent, play music while you cook or unwind, and add fresh flowers to your space. Something as simple as a cozy throw blanket or a new coffee mug can shift the energy in your home. We are currently doing some upgrades to your our home, and it’s really giving the space new life.

8. Celebrate Small Wins

We’re so focused on chasing the next goal that we don’t always stop to celebrate progress. Finished a tough work project? Survived a chaotic week of parenting? Got through your to-do list? Pause and honor those moments. Pour yourself a glass of bubbly, indulge in your favorite dessert, or journal about what you’re proud of.

9. Infuse Romance into Your Everyday Moments

Whether you’re single or in a relationship, romance isn’t just about grand gestures—it’s about how you show up for yourself. Spritz on your favorite perfume, write yourself a love note, or take yourself out on a solo date. The way you treat yourself sets the tone for how others treat you, too.

10. Move Your Body in Ways That Feel Good

Exercise doesn’t have to be about hitting the gym if that’s not your thing (because it’s not mine lol). Dance around the house, take a walk, do a quick yoga flow, or stretch while listening to your favorite playlist. Movement is a form of self-care and a way to connect with your body in a way that feels nourishing. I recently returned to my chiropractor, and my body is thanking me!

Romanticizing your everyday life is about making small but meaningful shifts that bring more joy, beauty, and ease into your routine. What’s one way you’re going to romanticize your life this week? Drop a comment and let’s share ideas!
