The 2 Frameworks That Help Me Focus on What Matters Most in My Business

With so many things grabbing at our attention, focus is crucial, especially in the fast-paced world of entrepreneurship and the work place. Throughout my business and creative journey, mindset has been a cornerstone in steadying me and keeping me on course. As a woman juggling family, career and everything in between, I've learned to maximize the sometimes limited time I have for my business by focusing intentionally on what matters most.

I'm a fan of acronyms and recently I came up with two that guide the time I work on my content and business overall effectively. This framework not only helps me move forward in my business goals but also ensures that my work aligns with my values and purpose, benefiting this community of glow getters. Here’s how you can use this framework too:

Focus on What Matters M.O.S.T.

M - Move the Needle on Priorities

First and foremost, I define my priorities. Everything can't be a priority, so I focus on tasks that will have the most significant impact on my business and the glow getter gang. Whether it's creating valuable content like this blog post, planning the next Love x Glow meetup, or nurturing influencer partnership relationships, I prioritize tasks that move the needle forward.

O - Operating in Your Zone of Genius

Identifying my zone of genius has been transformative. What am I superior at? What is my secret sauce? By focusing on tasks that align with my strengths and passion, I maximize productivity and creativity. If you’re unsure of your zone of genius, I highly recommend reading this book.

S - Step by Step, Day by Day

To avoid overwhelm and burnout, I remind myself to take things step by step, day by day. As they say, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a successful business. By breaking down big goals into smaller, manageable tasks, I stay focused and make consistent progress towards my objectives.

T - To God Be the Glory, To Experience the Joy that comes with Purposefulness and Fulfillment, To Benefit the Glow Getter Gang

Understanding your why is what guides our what and how. I find joy in fulfilling purpose-driven work, which in turn benefits the glow getter gang. Your “T for to” will be different, but aligning your work with your why will give you clarity and motivation.

Have a Great D.A.Y.

D - Devote Time to God and to Me

Starting my day with a routine that includes time for spiritual and personal growth is non-negotiable. Even if it’s just 30 minutes, I make sure to prioritize myself and connect with my faith. I make my coffee, I drink my water, do my skincare routine, I pray, and I read scripture and my devotional - this is for me and I try not to skip it because this is foundational. This sets a positive tone for the rest of my day.

A - Assess the Priorities and Schedule

I take charge of my day by assessing my priorities and creating a schedule. Time blocking helps me allocate time for tasks that matter most and minimize distractions. This proactive approach ensures I stay on track and productive throughout the day. I recommend using a timer if necessary. Here’s the one I use.

Y - Yes to Goals and No to Distractions

Discipline is key to achieving my goals. I say yes to my goals and work hard to say no to distractions that can derail my progress. Whether it’s managing email, social media, or other non-essential tasks, I set boundaries to maintain focus and productivity.

In short, focusing on what matters most and following a daily routine has been instrumental in my business journey this year. It’s about working smarter, not harder, and staying aligned with my purpose and values. By implementing these strategies, I’ve been able to maximize the time I commit to my business, achieving both personal fulfillment and professional success.

I hope this framework inspires you to prioritize what matters most, and it can be customized to stay professionally focused or switched to personally focused. Share with me how you focus on what matters most in the comments below!
