20 Christmas Movies To Watch This Year

My tree is up, and the holiday movies are in heavy rotation. Thus, it’s official — Christmastime is here! I’ve literally been watching holiday movies every night for the past couple weeks, which brings me to today’s blog post. With Christmas just 2 weeks away, it’s nothing like a good Christmas movie to spread some holiday cheer.

I’m sharing my list of movies you should watch beginning tonight. My 20 for 2020 picks include some classics that’ll never get old, along with new family movies that are too cute to pass up. It’s Friday, so order a pizza, turn on the fireplace, cozy up in a blanket and tune into one of these movies.

1 — Merry Liddle Christmas

Starring Kelly Rowland as Jacquie Liddle, along with a great cast that make up The Liddle family. This family-friendly movie shows Christmas catastrophe turned Christmas magic, romance and family memories.

2 — Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding

Part 2 of Merry Liddle Christmas did not disappoint. The Liddle family returned to the screen for another Christmas catastrophe turned Christmas magic, romance and family memories.

3 — Jingle Jangle

Starring Forest Whitaker as Jeronicus Jangle, the greatest inventor of all time. This is one of the best family-friendly movies I’ve seen this year or ever. There were so many lessons to be learned from this movie, that I may need to write a separate blog post to just highlight them. For now, one of the lines from the movie sums it up for me — “there is always something left”. All the church folks should be shouting now :)

4 — Holiday Calendar

I enjoyed this feel-good and romantic movie, that had a unique story line centered around an antique Advent calendar.

5 — Home Alone

We were all introduced to the McCallisters in 1990, and Kevin and his home alone adventure is forever epic. Catch it on Prime Movie here.

6 — Home Alone 2: Lost In New York City

I love that this series is something I grew up on as a kid, and it’s still just as entertaining and enjoyable to my children all these years later. Catch it on Prime Movie here.

7 — Almost Christmas

Starring Gabrielle Union, Danny Glover, Mo’Nique and an awesome cast. This comedy highlights the highs and lows of a dysfunctional family gathering together for their first Christmas since their mom died.

8 — Last Holiday

Starring Queen Latifah as Georgia, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness and decides to live life to the fullest for what’s expected to be her last holiday. Total feel good movie!

9 — Tyler Perry’s a Madea Christmas

This hilarious movie starring Tyler Perry as Madea takes place on a farm, and is full of family and town drama.

10 — Elf

Will Ferrell can do no wrong, and this cute Christmas movie is enjoyable for the whole family.

11 — Christmas with the Kranks

Tim Allen is another one who can do no wrong. Cute and funny family movie highlighting all the neighborhood drama that ensues when a couple decides to cancel Christmas.

12 — Daddy’s Home 2

Starring Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell, this comedy was so funny the first time I watched it last year that I kept it on repeat. Needless to say, it’s back in the rotation this year. Great date night in option.

13 — The Mistle-Tones

This is my daughter’s favorite movie right now. We both love Tia Mowry and music, so this feel-good holiday featuring a music competition is a winner.

14 — Christmas Everlasting

I don’t watch a lot of Hallmark movies, but this one starring Tatyana Ali and Dondre Whitfield is really good.

15 — Christmas Chronicles

What kid doesn’t love a good Santa movie? My kids enjoyed this cute movie showing 2 siblings adventures with Santa on Christmas Eve.

16 — Christmas Chronicles 2

My daughter loves Part 2 of Christmas Chronicles even more than the first. Kate winds up at the North Pole this time for more adventures with Santa, Mrs. Clause and more.

17 — This Christmas

Starring Loretta Devine, Idris Elba and Chris Brown, this movie has become a holiday classic and showcases family drama turned family bonding at Christmas.

18 — Jingle all the Way

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sinbad, this family friendly movie shows the adventures of 2 dads shopping for the hottest toy of the year for their kids when it’s sold out everywhere on Christmas Eve.

19 — The Santa Clause

This family friendly movie, starring Tim Allen, is a classic! My kids actually love Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3, but the original is my all my time fave of the series.

20 — The Grinch

My favorite version is with Jim Carey, but I also like the animated version by Illumination. The Grinch is a classic!

I hope this list helps make the remainder of the holiday season merrier and brings you some entertainment. Let me know what you think of this list, and let me know of any others I missed.

Have a glowing weekend!
